  • Food for the soul: Laughter is a great mental tonic. It can dispel anxiety, help manage stress, depression, fear and worry. Get high on laughter! Have a ha-ha-ha happy mornin.

  • August 31, 2007 marks the 10-year anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Her young boys, who solemnly and bravely walked behind their mother’s coffin, are now men. Her prince charming — who turned out to be a frog — married his one truelove. And the paparazzi have moved on to stalk pop-culture princesses like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Diana’s life was short but richly lived.

  • Could it be true that

    Bohol

journalists were “lectured” by Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim? According to True Very Reliable Source (VRS) in Bisaya, nakapiso. Mayor Lim tackled on responsible reporting when it comes to news reporting and not on hearsay and “tsismis.” On the other hand, Kagawad Roberto “Batchoy” Alba, anchor man of the primetime public affairs radio program Pulso heard on dyRD, said four of his major advertisers have pulled out their commercial spots over the weekend. The reasons were unclear but reports reaching Alba said these business establishments were pressured by a top city hall functionary and were ordered, under threats, to pull out their advertisement from Pulso. Why, why?

  • From www.tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com on the issue of the role of the media in the society. From Arlaine Cecile Berdin: You should have heard what the mayor said on air this morning (September 1). he also criticized Fred Amora for having come up with this article that we are talking about now. instead of focusing on the article, he hit the writer without mentioning the name. And he also implied it was so stupid for the management of dyrd to have absorbed the leavings (his term was mga reject) sa dytr. With this statement, we can see the line of thinking of the mayor. He is a lawyer, so we expect high level of logic from him. It’s frustrating. If only there is a newspaper that can survive without politician’s money... Dot says: The bad thing is, there are some mediamen who are AC/DC. Attack, collect. Defend, Collect. Pwera land sa mga adunay tinood nga integrity (may their tribe increase).

· True practices fairness, objectivity and balance reporting for news .. but here on True everything goes.

· Could it be true that a young businessman is said to be “misbehavin’”? This cropped up during the concert held in

Tagbilaran

City

with a Cebu-based band. The first party who represented the school paid everything for the band as agreed in the agreement. It was turned out that the band manager and this businessman didn’t even bother to inform the first party of their “hidden” agenda resulting to conflict the students where to go that night. VRS shares that there is no question of the band was invited to “jam” (in fact, they did perform), it is just a matter of professional courtesy. Mmm.. True will give you full detail next Sunday. Stay tune!

gymnasium was winding up its “battle of the bands” presentation, raffle draws, and other surprises of the culmination of the My HNU SIM, the first-off-its-kind in the province powered by Globe.

Watching the classic HNU Diwanag Dance Troupe with their excellent performances (I like the Broadway ala jazz number, thanks to Sir Marianito Luspo), school-based bands like Timber and Cold Stare, Globe Kantabataan “finalist” Suitcase 101 and

Cebu

’s band 17th Crush, gave credence to the emergence of more talented people. They radiated charm and confidence that matched their performance levels.

Students who attended and participated in the event were lucky to receive G-Cash worth of Php 2,000 and Php 3,000, Php 5,000, Motorola phones, I-pod shuffle, Yeng Constantino cds, shirts and other freebies.

The event was hosted by the young and dashing Glenn Manigque. Thumbs up to Glenn for a job well-done.

Those who wish to avail the My HNU SIM can inquire the
