The $20 story
Got this email from writer Sonieta Labasan.
Sometimes we just need to be reminded! A well-known speaker started off his seminar by: holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE. You are special --Don't EVER forget it."
If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Count your blessings, not your problems. "And remember: amateurs built the ark .. professionals built the Titanic.
If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.
Share this story to your friends and you’ll get a miracle.
Bohol
Death Squad Could it be true that Bohol
is a "tourist" attraction or "tulis" attraction? This is a “hot issue here and abroad.
From Varga at www.tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com:
Mga 'Sano/a,
Mao- na ba ni ang situasyon nga ang atong publiko nakahuna-huna na into resorting to the extreme at the cost of sacrificing christian morality?
Different reactions started to uproar.
From Junayag: Lisod baya pod kon dunay Death Squad kay himoon sad ni sila ug scapegoat sa mga criminals and bad elements... ma confused noon ang mga tawo og modaghan ang krimen.
Measuring the prevalence of crime in Bohol
is small compared to other localities. The best thing is to ensure that our police authorities are intensifying their efforts to curb this trend... and the politicians who claimed that they are not the type of corrupt men must lead by examples...
a problem cannot be solved by engaging an action that is relevant to the issue of a crime...what i mean, we need to tighten our laws, strictly adhere compliances and penalize the offenders to what they deserved as per set laws....
From Franklin
: I don't know about death squads; that makes me a little squeamish.
It reminds me of the early days in the USA
(1600's) when they burned old ladies for being a witch.
What I am getting at this? Who controls the vigilantes?
Seems to me in Cagayan de Oro there a lot more baranguay chiefs who are always around even in the night. Keeping their eyes on things. It is something I don't see or hear of here in Tag.
One thing in the state that is similar to the baranguay chief watch is a "neighborhood watch", where the neighborhood
people meet and talk and take turns being the one on guard duty. A nice thing that comes out of this is that it brings people closer together.
Capitan Berong: Can understand your reaction considering your long absence from home...
911-like setup does not work in an undisciplined society as the experience in Metro Manila
showed.
We had a similar undertaking established sometime back but you know what happened?
The emergency number got clogged up with prank calls so the police got tired of picking up the phone
and have to eventually gave up! So now, no more pranksters call as no one bothers to answer the phone.
